Pitlane

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Pitlane (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Pitlane launch page, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

When you join the Pitlane launch list, we collect the information you enter in the form:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Vehicle registration (number plate) — you can add more than one
  • Town or city
  • Suburb (optional)

We also automatically collect limited technical and usage information when you visit the site — such as your IP address, basic browser or device details, the pages you view, the website or source you came from (the referring address), and the time of your visit. We use this to keep the service running, protect it from spam and abuse, understand how people find and use the site, and measure how well our marketing is working. This information is collected through our own first-party systems and our hosting and security providers, and is shown to us in an internal dashboard. We do not use third-party advertising trackers for it.

Why we collect this information

We collect this information to:

  • Manage the Pitlane launch list
  • Communicate with people interested in Pitlane
  • Invite users to access, test or activate the Pitlane app
  • Understand demand for the service and improve the product
  • Provide updates about Pitlane’s development and launch

Launch list and early access

The Pitlane launch list allows us to invite interested vehicle owners to access the app as it becomes available.

Joining the launch list does not create a Pitlane account and does not oblige you to sign up or use the service.

If you receive an invitation to activate your account and choose not to proceed, we may delete the launch registration information we hold about you after a reasonable period. We may also periodically remove inactive launch-list registrations that are no longer required for the purposes outlined in this policy.

Where your information is stored

Information submitted through the Pitlane launch page is stored in our database, which is hosted by Supabase on servers located in Sydney, Australia. Our website is hosted by Vercel, and we use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish genuine visitors from automated bots.

Because these providers operate outside New Zealand, your personal information may be stored and processed overseas, including in Australia. Where information is held or processed outside New Zealand, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by safeguards comparable to those required under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. These include encrypting data in transit (HTTPS), restricting database access so signup information is not publicly readable, and limiting access to authorised personnel only.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only with the service providers that help us operate Pitlane — currently Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting) and Cloudflare (bot protection). These providers are given only the information necessary to perform their services, and some are located overseas as described above.

We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law.

Marketing and communications

By joining the launch list, you agree that we may contact you regarding:

  • Product updates
  • Launch announcements
  • Early access opportunities
  • Testing and feedback programmes
  • Other communications related to Pitlane

You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

Your rights: access, correction and deletion

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate; and
  • Request that we delete your information from the launch list.

To make any of these requests, email pitcrew@getpitlane.co. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case as required by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep your information

We keep launch-list information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. We will delete it on request, and we may also remove inactive registrations that are no longer required.

Cookies and analytics

We use our own first-party analytics to count visits and understand how people arrive at the site — for example, which link, post or ad they came from. This does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking services, and the information is stored with our existing providers (in Sydney, Australia). Cloudflare Turnstile may use limited technical signals from your browser to confirm you are a genuine visitor.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at pitcrew@getpitlane.co. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
